Our story

Walking beside them, all the way up

A dad, two daughters, and the mission that every mother and father shares.

Every parent remembers the first time a tiny hand closed around one of their fingers — and held on.

Nobody tells you that, from that moment, your whole life will quietly rearrange itself around a small person learning the world.

  1. 01 Seed

    The first scribbles

Hina's first drawing was a circle that didn't quite close. Yuri's was mostly on the table. We kept both.

Somewhere in every home there's a drawer like ours: crayon suns, a cat with six legs, a portrait of Dad with enormous ears. They aren't masterpieces. They're proof that someone small was brave enough to try.

  2. 02 Sprout

    The first songs

Then come the songs — half-remembered, sung far too loudly in the car, forty times on the way to Grandma's, until you know every word too.

Children don't make music to be good at it. They make it because joy has to come out somehow.

  3. 03 Bud

    The bedtime questions

Why is the sky dark? Where do birds sleep? Will you still be here when I wake up?

The questions get bigger as the lights go down. We don't always have the answers. What we can promise is to stay, and to wonder alongside them.

  4. 04 Bloom

The day they let go of your hand

And one morning — sooner than anyone warns you — they walk through the school gate without looking back.

It's the day you were working toward all along, and it still takes your breath away. Our job was never to hold on. It was to make sure they could walk.

The worry we all carry

Somewhere along the way, the screens arrived. Like every parent, I've watched an app beg my child for “just one more”, seen an ad slip into a cartoon, and wondered who was quietly collecting what.

I didn't want to give up on technology. It can teach, delight and bring a family closer. I just wanted it to behave like a good guest in our home.

So we began making our own

HinaYuri Labs is named after my two daughters. Hina, 雛, is a little chick — the small ones still learning to fly. Yuri, 百合, is a lily, which grows quietly and opens in its own time.

Together they hold the whole journey we want to serve: from a child's very first years until the day they grow up and fly on their own. Learning, creativity, music and the small skills of life — apps that grow up beside them.

The mission of parents everywhere

I'm only one parent. Right now, all over the world, mothers and fathers are warming milk at three in the morning, tying shoelaces, answering “why?” for the hundredth time, and sitting on tiny chairs at school concerts.

In every language it's the same work and the same hope: that our children grow up curious, capable and kind, in a world a little better than the one we found. Our apps are our small part of that shared mission — and you are part of it too.

Our job was never to hold on. It was to make sure they could walk.

Our promises

What that means for every app we make

A dream is only worth something if it changes how you work. These are the promises we keep.

  1. Their world stays theirs

We collect only what an app truly needs, never sell or share data for advertising, and make deleting everything easy. This website doesn't even use cookies.

  2. No ads, no tricks

No advertising in our children's apps. No nagging streaks, no loot boxes, no buttons designed to be tapped by accident. Anything that costs money or leaves the app sits behind a grown-up check.

  3. Real learning, beyond the screen

The best moments happen on paper, at the piano, out in the world. Our apps teach, then step aside — so time with them leads somewhere.

  4. Made with our own kids

Every lesson is drawn, sung and played at our own kitchen table first — by Hina, Yuri and their friends, who are honest critics.

  5. Apps that grow with them

From little ones to curious kids, from teens to young adults: we're building a family of apps that keeps pace with your child, one stage at a time.

A letter

Dear parents,

I don't know your child's name, but I think I know a little about your days: the rush in the morning, the drawings on the fridge, the song stuck in your head, the small voice asking for one more story.

Everything we make is made for those days — to be one of the good things in them, and then to step aside so you can have the rest.

Thank you for trusting us with a few minutes of their day. We know how precious those minutes are.

If an app of ours ever doesn't feel right for your family, please write to me. I read every message, usually after bedtime.

From one parent to another,

— Hina & Yuri's dadHinaYuri Labs
