An independent studio for children & families

Made for Hina & Yuri — and every child growing up.

HinaYuri Labs is named after two little girls, and built by their dad. We make calm, honest apps that grow up alongside children — from first scribbles and first songs to the big questions they ask at bedtime.

No ads. No trackers. Just good things to learn.

What's in a name

Hina 雛

A little chick — the small ones, still learning to fly.

Yuri 百合

A lily — it grows quietly and opens in its own time.

Together, the whole journey: from a child's very first years until the day they fly on their own.

Why we exist

Our mission

To help children grow up curious, capable and kind — with technology that knows when to step aside.

Our vision

A better future for children, where every app a child opens is made the way a loving parent would make it: gently, honestly, and with their whole life in mind.

Our apps

Made at the kitchen table, tested by real kids

Each app is its own small world, with its own name and its own home on the web. More are growing.

Learn to draw on real paper

Teacher Juno draws step by step; your child follows with a pencil on real paper, snaps a photo — and watches the drawing come alive.

Sprinkle a little magic on your music

Upload sheet music — a PDF, a photo or a MIDI file — and Melodust turns it into an accurate MIDI and MusicXML, a glowing interactive score on a real piano, and beautiful practice videos. A library of verified piano scores and a Practice Room help learners play a little better every day.

The next seedling

Life skills, languages, a little science… we're sketching what comes next with the children who'll use it.

Planned

Our promises

Five promises we make to every family — and keep in every app we build.

  1. Their world stays theirs

We collect only what an app truly needs, never sell or share data for advertising, and make deleting everything easy. This website doesn't even use cookies.

  2. No ads, no tricks

No advertising in our children's apps. No nagging streaks, no loot boxes, no buttons designed to be tapped by accident. Anything that costs money or leaves the app sits behind a grown-up check.

  3. Real learning, beyond the screen

The best moments happen on paper, at the piano, out in the world. Our apps teach, then step aside — so time with them leads somewhere.

  4. Made with our own kids

Every lesson is drawn, sung and played at our own kitchen table first — by Hina, Yuri and their friends, who are honest critics.

  5. Apps that grow with them

From little ones to curious kids, from teens to young adults: we're building a family of apps that keeps pace with your child, one stage at a time.

Our story

A promise from one parent to another

First scribbles, first songs, bedtime questions, and the day they no longer need your hand. Every parent walks that road. This studio is how one dad decided to walk it — and to make something good for all the children walking it too.

How we build

Slowly, carefully, at a child's pace

  1. Listen first

We start with children and parents — what they love, what frustrates them, what they wish existed.

  2. Sketch & play-test at home

Paper prototypes, then early builds, tested at our own table. If a five-year-old can't use it alone, we start again.

  3. Polish what matters

Accessible, fast on older phones, honest about data, and translated by people who care about the words.

  4. Care for it, for years

Calm updates, real support, and a promise to answer every email. Apps for children deserve to be looked after.
